About the instructor

Gerry Robbins

Gerry has been turning wood for over 30 years. His passion for the hobby has grown since retirement, and he now turns every day. He currently serves on the Board of Directors of the Kawartha Wood Turners’ Guild.

He also continues to learn from others; his philosophy is that there’s always more to learn, and that you won’t learn much if you aren’t willing to make mistakes. His teaching style is friendly and empowering, and he works well with both adults and children.

What you’ll learn:

Gerry makes sure that safety comes first!

Learn how to choose the right tool for the job, use them safely and effectively, and take care of them properly.

Gerry selects projects that suit the skill of the student, including pens, bowls, mallets, lidded boxes, urns, goblets, and more. Each project builds on the skills learned in the previous session.

About the Lessons

Lesson Structure & Pricing

Because every lesson builds on the last, and physical skill requires some muscle memory and practice, Gerry recommends a series of three lessons. Each session runs 10am-3pm with a lunch break, and will result in a completed project the student can take home.

For a three-session lesson plan, the cost is $375, inclusive of all materials. For young students (minors), parents must stay for the duration. Gerry is available for lessons any day of the week.
